Intel will introduce a new Linux driver core performance increase of 20%

It has been reported that some programmers play world of warcraft, DOTA2, CSGO and other Windows games on Linux system, and the performance is good.However, compared with Windows system, it is generally difficult to play games under Linux. The graphics card driver is a problem, and the performance is generally not as good as that of Win system. The good news is that Intel is about to launch a new Linux driver, which can improve the core display performance by up to 20%.

According to foreign media reports, Francisco Jerez, a member of the Intel Linux open source graphics driver team, has been optimizing the performance of Intel cores for the past few months, which can be significantly improved by adjusting the load balance of slice/sub-slice.

According to the test, the graphical performance under Linux can be improved by up to 20% on the Skylake GT4 core, but not all projects will have such a big improvement. The performance of Unigine Valley is improved by about 3.4%, Gfxbench by 4%, partial GpuTest by 8%, and SynMark by 15-22%.

For some low-end Gen9 cores, the optimization driver is also helpful, and the performance improvement is not so obvious.

Intel's Linux optimized driver will be part of Mesa 19.2, which is expected to be released in September and will be integrated into Fedora 31, Ubuntu 19.10 and other Linux distributions.
