SAN jose, ca, August 20, 2019 - Power Integrations (nasdaq: POWI), a leading company specializing in high voltage integrated circuits for energy efficient Power conversions, today announced the CAPZero™-3 series of devices, the company's latest generation of sophisticated and energy efficient X capacitor discharge IC.Double-terminal capzero-3 IC enables designers to easily meet the IEC60335 safety standard of your electricity, and the new IC covers all capacitance values from 100 nF to 6 F.

IEC60335 is the discharge safety standard covering all electrical appliances. To prevent electrical hazards to customers, the standard requires the voltage of the input X capacitor to be discharged below 34 V within one second after AC power is cut off.Capzero-3 IC can block the current flowing through the X capacitor discharge resistance after AC voltage is connected, and automatically discharge the X capacitor through these resistors after AC power is cut off.Capzero-3ic simplifies the design of EMI filtering circuits while allowing the use of larger capacity X capacitors, allowing the use of smaller inductor components without changing power consumption.

The capzero-3 IC can be placed either before or after the system input fuse. The new device has a high common mode surge resistance, so no external grounding connection is required, and an internal 1000 V MOSFET is integrated with high differential mode surge resistance. The creeping distance of package and PCB should be kept below 4 mm.

Edward Ong, product marketing manager at Power IntegraTIons, said:

The launch of our new capzero-3ic allows designers to use a single element to solve a wide range of applications in household appliances of sizes ranging from 100nF to 6 F.

Capzero-3 devices are certified to meet the safety requirements of CB and Nemko, so developers do not need to conduct a separate safety test on the X capacitor discharge circuit of the power supply. The device is now available.
