This year is undoubtedly a very busy and exciting year for AMD processors. We will be welcoming 3rd Gen RYZEM3000 series desktop products (Matisse), 2rd GenEPYC data center products (Rome), 3rd Gen Threadripper 3000 series desktops. Fever product (Castle Peak). They are all based on the new 7nm process and the new Zen 2 architecture.

Today, the authoritative hardware identification tool AIDA64 released the latest 5.99.4983 Beta test version. The update log mentions that it has supported the physical information of AMD Castle Peak and Rome, that is, the basic specifications that can be detected.

AMD 1rd Gen and 2rd Gen Threadripper are derived from 1rd Gen EPYC (Naples) in the data center, with up to 16 and 32 physical cores respectively. The 3rd Gen Threadripper will obviously be the same as 2rd Gen EPYC.

The specific specifications of the 3rd Gen Threadripper are unclear, but AMD claims it will maintain its dominant leadership in the desktop fever market and set new highs in performance and energy efficiency.

Intel Core X series currently only has a maximum of 18 cores, and the 14nm architecture has a limit of 28 cores. The glue package has just achieved 56 cores, so it is still quite easy for AMD.

2rd Gen EPYC has already achieved a maximum of 64 cores. The new Threadripper will definitely not go up so much at once. Even if it maintains 32 cores, it can continue to suppress Intel with new technology and new cores. Advancing to the 48 core will continue to put tremendous pressure on Intel.

Interestingly, AIDA64 has just joined the detection support for Intel Xeon Platinum Edition 9222, 9221, they are just released 32 core products, there are 48 core 9242, 56 core 9928 online.

In addition, the 3rd Gen Threadripper will still be a TR4 package interface, compatible with the existing X399 motherboard, but in order to support PCIe 4.0, you must match the new X499.

Gigabyte has leaked three X499 motherboard models, namely X499 AORUS XTREME WATERFORCE (full water cooling), X499 AORUS MASTER, X499 DESIGNARE EX-10G (10 Gigabit network card).
